31
I tried to convince Brent that we should rewind and be 29 again, but I just couldn't do it, so he turned 31 five days ago, and I did today. Yeah, he really robbed the cradle when he chose me! At least I'm not 300 like one of my students guessed or 16 like another one guessed. I am so glad to be past all the drama of the teenage years, and I'm glad to be an adult...well, most of the time anyway!

Tall & Skinny
Thursday was Chandler's 2-year checkup at the pediatrician. He wasn't too fond of getting on the scales, but he didn't mind getting his finger pricked at all...go figure!
He has about a 60 word vocabulary, which is right on target, and our hope is that now he has tubes, he'll be hearing and saying even more. He's climbing, running, laughing, saying animal sounds and letter names, imitating things he sees us do, and problem-solving right on target as well. Believe me, this is the stage we baby-proofed for!
He's in the 90th percentile for height, and the 50th percentile for weight, so it looks like we have a tall and skinny boy on our hands, and I'm loving every minute of watching this boy grow up!

Thankful Thursday
This Thursday I am thankful for...
1) My Husband:
We've known each other since we were 16, and I've grown more in love with him
over the years. He is hard working, he treats me like a queen, and he's a
wonderful Daddy to Chandler. He also just happens to be celebrating his birthday
tomorrow!
2) The Mall of Georgia:
It had been a while since I had been there, but we took a trip tonight just for
fun. I love how there are so many cute stores to visit all in one place, and I
especially love how I found a cute outfit for me and for Chandler.
3) Escalators:
Well, not so much escalators themselves, but how they made the face of my
two-year-old light up tonight while we were at the mall. Sometimes I wish I
could enjoy the simple things in life as much as he does.

Party Time
On Saturday, we celebrated Chandler's 2nd birthday with a Construction-themed party with the family. We kept it pretty simple- hot dogs with all the fixings, and of course this cute cake.
Chandler was mostly interested in chasing his cousin Connor around, but he sure was excited when he saw his new big wheel!
He even blew out the candles on his cake...with just a little help!

Two
No one ever told me how quickly the time would pass. It seems like we waited forever for him to arrive, but once he got here, I'm convinced someone pressed the fast forward button.
My life changed forever on Friday, February 5, 2010 at 7:21 a.m. when they handed me that 7 lb., 11 oz, 20 inch long bundle of joy. I didn't realize how much my life changed in that instant, but it didn't take long. I remember holding him that same night as he slept, just staring at him with wonder and amazement. I still do that from time to time. Holding him while he sleeps is still one of my favorite things. It's something his Daddy doesn't quite understand, and he probably never will.
I love to sneak into his room late at night from time to time and gently lift him from his crib, holding him against me as he snores softly. I love how he feels, how he smells, and the sucking noises he still makes in his sleep. I don't want to forget these things because one day I know he'll be too big for me to hold him like this, and I want to hold him all I can now so there are no regrets tomorrow.
When God sent Chandler Jarrett McKay into my life, I have no doubt that he sent me a miracle, and that miracle has changed my entire perspective on life. That miracle made me a mother, and I am forever thankful to have the privilege of holding this title.

Thankful Thursday
Even in light of recent events in our family, there are so many things to be thankful for. God never gives us more than we can handle.
1) My Wonderful Husband and Adorable Son-
Actually, I could put them at the top of my list every time, but these two boys are especially important to me right now. God gave them to me for a reason, and I am forever thankful. It's nice to be absolutely adored by two guys!
2) My Parents and In Laws-
Both sets of parents live within 15 minutes of us, and they are always there when we need them, even if it means their plans sometimes have to change at the last minute. They love all of us unconditionally, and I am forever grateful for the love and support they have shown us, not just in the last few days, but always. Chandler is very blessed to have four wonderful grandparents.
3) My Doctor-
Just when I needed him most, he took time out of his busy schedule to speak to me directly on the phone Tuesday afternoon. Not all doctors will do that. Although there was nothing he could do to change the circumstance I was facing, I could hear the sorrow in his voice as I told him what was happening. Then, on Wednesday, he spent the biggest part of an hour just talking with me and then with both Brent and me about our options for next steps. He's been there with us every time we've been in this situation, and it makes a difference to have a doctor who not only cares, but who prays for us when we are going through a difficult time. We were also blessed that this same doctor was on call the weekend that Chandler was born, which just happens to be two years ago this weekend. Although he wasn't the one to deliver, we got to see him much of the weekend, and he rejoiced with us over the birth of our son.
4) Sweet Friends and Family-
So many of them have sent some wonderful words of encouragement my way in the last few days, and even some who haven't said a word to me are praying fervently because they don't know what to say. Those prayers are being heard and felt, and they are very much appreciated.
